The Iwana Athletics Stadium inside Iwana Sports Park is well known as the training ground of Japan’s medal-winning marathon athletes, such as Takahashi Naoko and Arimori Yuko, under the instruction of renowned coach, Koide Yoshio.
Also in the park, Iwana Football Field is an artificial grass field that can be used for soccer, rugby and other ball games. On weekdays, it is used by the AC Milan Soccer School Chiba Sakura, where aspiring soccer players can receive technical guidance from technical directors brought over from the famous Italian soccer club, AC Milan.
Other facilities in the park include the Nagashima Shigeo Memorial Iwana Baseball Stadium, named after Honorary Manager-for-Life of the Yomiuri Giants baseball team, Nagashima Shigeo, a second baseball stadium, a 1.6-kilometre cross country course, tennis courts, a 50-metre swimming pool, and a children’s swimming pool. Many people of all ages enjoy sports and exercise at the Iwana Sports Park.
